Did you know?

Species conservation, research, sustainability and education are key components of our philosophy. Among our greatest achievements are the world’s first release into the wild of a white rhinoceros bred in Europe, our recognition as a zoological garden, as well as our successful participation in numerous EEPs and our admission to EAZA. As a recognized out-of-school learning center, our Safari School offers a wide range of opportunities in the areas of education for sustainable development and global learning. Since 2018, we have had our own research department (SPDR), which is dedicated to interdisciplinary approaches in biological, physiological, psychological, and veterinary research.
