Wildlife: Serengeti-Safari
Our park, recognized as a zoological garden, provides a natural habitat for around 2,000 wild animals. In the numerous spacious and accessible landscapes of the Serengeti Safari, many species live together - just as they do in the wild. Here, you can consciously experience their interactions and a piece of nature. You can only explore this part of the park by vehicle. On the outskirts of the Adventure Safari, in the Masai Mara, and in the Jungle Safari, there are many areas where you can also discover animals on foot. In the petting safaris and the walk-through enclosures of the Jungle Safari, you can even experience some of them up close!
VIP safari: exclusive and up-close
With our rangers, you can get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look and get up close and personal with the animals! Feed giraffes, elephants and many more yourself. Feel the breath of mighty big cats as they come impressively close to you while you feed them from the barred expedition vehicle! In open jeeps, Unimogs, monster trucks, barred quads and more, you’ll travel partly off-road through the Serengeti.
*Please note: Most of the tours are not offered in English language.
Serengeti Bus Safari
Led by our experienced rangers, you’ll enjoy a guided safari filled with entertainment and fascinating facts about our animals. The Serengeti Bus Safari runs several times a day, rain or shine. It lasts one hour and costs €7.50 per person (children under 3 are free). The last Serengeti Bus Safari departs at 3:30 p.m. You can find the daily departure times at the bus stop in the park.
*Please note: Most of the tours are not offered in English language.
Experience the park by car
You can drive your own car on the 10-kilometer journey through the Serengeti Safari. The drive is included in the park admission fee, but is at your own risk. We assume no liability for any damage to your vehicle. Most of our animals are free to roam within the enclosed areas; please do not feed them! Incorrect or excessive food can be fatal. Getting out of the vehicle is only permitted in the Valley of the Elephants.
Walking Safari
You also have several opportunities to admire most of our animals on foot. For example, you can walk from East Africa all the way to Europe along our elevated panorama trail. From there, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the Serengeti Safari, find the interactive displays (accessible via the Serengeti Park app) and even a feeding station for the animals is available for you to use.
On the way there, you’ll pass the viewing platform of the Masai Mara enclosure: giraffes, wildebeests, antelopes and many other animals roam freely in the spacious outdoor enclosure.
You can take further “walking safaris” through the walk-through enclosures of the Jungle Safari, the Petting Safari or to Ivory Valley, home to our elephants.

Species Conservation & Breeding Programs
Species conservation, species preservation, environmental education, and research are among the core missions of a zoo. Among the animals living here are critically endangered or endangered species, whose survival can in some cases only be ensured through breeding in captivity. As a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), we participate in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) with many of our animals.
Discover and protect
Our animals
